I.C.E. OUT!

ICE OUT

We wrote this song last spring. It’s already gotten some attention online for what it says, but what’s striking to us is all of the things that the song leaves out. All of the things that have happened since it was written- the constantly expanding travel ban and the halt on all asylum cases and the cancelling of oath ceremonies and the detention of refugees and SIV holders and Oglala Lakota and US Citizens and of course the outright murder of US citizens.

The list is overwhelming. And for many people, the details are crucial. But even as our minds tune in to each new technicality, our hearts are doing something too. They are not breaking. They are feeling. They are beating. Together, our collective heartbeats are transforming grief and anger into power.

In Communities Everywhere, Immigration Crackdowns Escalate. It’s Critical Everyone Engages in Courageous Expression Instead of Compliance or Erasure.

ICE OUT

Your Resistance is our Revival (New Song)

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

People standing up in Minnesota are standing up for all of us.

Thank you, Twin Cities. Your resistance is our revival.

We’ve been writing this song for more than 10 years. It began when Emma Becklar, then a member of the 303 Choir, composed this chorus as part of a medley with our song “Fight With Tools.” We performed that medley with Emma and the Colorado Symphony for their Martin Luther King Day commemoration in 2015.

Since then, the 303 Choir became Voco Choirs, the chorus became a song, and the song became an anthem, sung throughout our networks and our family.

We’ve been writing and rewriting against the backdrop of political polarization, genocide in Gaza, the terrorizing of our neighbors, and the struggle to transform all of these atrocities.

Right now feels like a key moment, maybe even a turning point. We’re ready for a revival.

So today, we’re sharing this song, “The Revival,” with our community.

We love you Sean! Rest in Love, Music and laughter.

Hello Flobots FAM.

Today is the celebration of life for our dearly beloved Sean Blanchard. We linked the obituary and information on the services Below.

Sean Blanchard Obituary

Sean, we are so profoundly grateful for the 10 wonderful years you spent creating music with us- for the countless hours you spent waiting in the practice space for the rest of us to show up (even though you had the longest drive); for your warmth, your love, your humor, your attitude, and even your ATTItude; for your creative genius and your practical advice, ; for the love you invested in us as people, in our band, and in our community.

We were in the space together yesterday and could not stop crying while laughing. And laughing while crying. We miss you and we feel your presence so intensely still.

We look forward to celebrating you today.

Join us in Denver on October 25th for the Grand Reopening of Ophelia's Electric Soapbox

How’s life?
You know, life: this incredible opportunity to explore existence on this earth, how is yours?
What brings you joy, what breaks your heart?
What fills you?
What drains you?
What’s your vision of the world you want to see?
How do you live out that vision every day?
How do we get from here to there, bringing people along with us through love, compassion, and a welcoming spirit that is willing to listen to everything that naturally arises?

How can we be the change we want to see?
What does it feel like to join forces in the same room together during times like these?

On October 25, in Denver, let’s find out. Join us at the @opheliasden Grand Reopening.

Yes, there’s an election.

Yes, there’s loss of life and destruction beyond comprehension.

Yes there’s work that desperately needs doing.

So, the chance to be together is one we cannot and must not pass up.

Life is too important not to celebrate.

Even in moments like this?

Yes, especially now.
